Designed to Preserve the Community’s Historic Character

Uniquely guided by both the practicality of the needs of low-income residents and the desire to complement the architectural structures currently existing in the community, Row House CDC ventures to build low-income housing that consists of good and relevant architecture that is not only well designed, but also makes sense to preserve the community’s historic character. Therefore, our duplexes feature deep front porches and standing seam metal roofs that are a contemporary adaptation of the typical shotgun/bungalow architecture of Third Ward.

Row House provides housing for residents ranging from 30% of median income for the area to market-rate. However, our interests extend far beyond building and managing low-income housing. The Row House CDC development plan envisions mixed-income housing, green space, public facilities, artists’ living/studio spaces and historic preservation. Our focus includes creating community through an architectural design that promotes connecting with neighbors via porches and common open space. Residents at Row House CDC also commit to engaging in 22 hours of community service during each year of their residency.
